Most stainless bolts I've seen respond so poorly to a magnet that it won't pick them up. You might get them to wiggle a bit but thats all. Even really good Nd magnets won't do it.
I was just speaking from experience. I work in manufacturing, and have almost always worked in food and medical fields. Most equipment that I deal with is stainless, and is not magnetic.
Maybe I just need to buy some and find out! Dammit!! Now I have to go and build a tumbler!!
On a side note, I've looked into a few different suppliers of stainless media (the stm site is not the only place it is available) and we could probably get it cheaper if we got a few people (10) together and ordered a bunch. Anyone interested?
I was going to call United Western here in town, they don't list it on their website, but could probably get it, if you know the exact size. They have a 50# minimum I believe though.
Just haven't got around to calling them. I figured I'd just stop in some day at lunch but have been too busy to get away.
Not from local, but the same idea. From what I've seen it seems if we can get 10 or so people together we could probably get about 8 pounds a piece for the same price as you get 5 from the STM site.
Who's gonna MIC a piece and let us know of the size of the pin? Also, will diagonal end cut pins possibly work better?
I have mixed ideas on the diagonal end pins, I don't think they would clean as well in the primer pockets. One gun forum listed the pins at 15/32's I thought, but I cannot find that information now.
Most aren't, but some stainless alloys are magnetic. To buy some, go to snipershide (using K2peaker's link above, http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubb...gonew=1#UNREAD, join and send Suasponte a PM asking for the order information for magnetic SS media. He will send you the contact information. The guy selling it doesn't want his name & contact info posted so you have to go thru this rather convoluted process. He sells 5# for $52.50 shipped. Each individual piece runs between .235” and .265” in length.
I'll contact him & see if I can pass his info along so you don't have to go through all that.
