Thanks for all the feedback guys. I was on MGT's site and he has complete RRA pistol lowers available. I'm just kinda looking into this to see what costs would be.I want to stay with 5.56 simply because I have plenty of Pmags and ammo and don't want to add another caliber like 9mm to the mix.
Probably won't happen at this time due to funds but it's fun thinking about it.

As an AR pistol, do you have to have that stupid buffer tubd thingy on it? I think it's look great without the stock... and like a joke with the tube.....

I got to shoot BP's at the DM's shoot. It was fun! The wifey liked it too! lol.

To the best of my knowledge(which is questionable at times) the AR wouldn't function without the buffer

You are correct StagLefty- without a buffer spring how is the BCG supposed to close and lock?
I know there is at least one manufacturer that builds a "bufferless" AR but I have no knowledge of how well it actually works. The recoil spring(s) are contained within the upper.

Watch this (select "Glass" or "Split" at the bottom and you can see why/how the buffer tube thingy works).

Oly does a pistol without a buffer tube ... but then you've got an Oly

Honestly I'm surprised that the AFT hasn't classified the buffer tube (especially with a foam microphone sock looking thing on it) as a "stock" and reclassified most AR pistols as SBRs.

There was a company called BOHICA (that disappeared before they actually got anywhere) that was making a pistol AR in .50 Beowulf ... I think this would be some serious shits and giggles.

That's why, when I built mine, I used the Gunsmoke Enterprises pistol buffer assembly. It's half the length of a normal buffer tube, so it doesn't get in the way like the standard ones do. I have the original version, so I can use a standard bolt carrier.

BOHICA is still around - or at least, there's a company by that name. But now all they make is a .50 BMG AR Upper.

I believe the 50 Beowulf pistol BOHICA (BOHICA Tool) isn't the same BOHICA (BOHICA Arms) that makes .50bmg uppers (its not like BOHICA isn't an obvious name for a gun company ... especially when one makes potential ban fodder ).

I know there used to be a Bohica that made AR's, to include lowers. I think they were local. I have a buddy who knew the owner, did some work for them. If I remember, they got shut down for some FFL violations.

Have you guys seen the RRA piston pistol? They also eliminated the need for a buffer tube.

Looked good until I got to the price. About $600 over what I've been looking at.
Thanks for the info though. Maybe someday
