I need to rant about something I heard on NPR tonight, but don't want to start a new thread. I'll just put it here.

So tonight, they played a sound clip of that....person....that Obama is trying to appoint as head of the ATF. He said something like, "We've never needed the ATF more than we do now! With all the people being murdered by guns every single day, in every single city in the US, we need the ATF blah, blah, blah." Now I didn't hear the whole clip, and assume it was a clip of that guy. Either way, it made me pretty angry. Is it just me, or does the ATF prevent gun crimes about as well as they prevent drunk driving accident and lung cancer?

You are correct Stuart, but they do a great job of interfering with law abiding citizens exercising their Constitutional rights through executive policies (read: unlawful legislation that circumvents the legal legislative process), intimidation, and prosecution.
