    Default Barrel compression fittings!

What a great idea to have compression, air tool style fittings, as opposed to twist on. I am not looking to start a new debate just simple informational discussion, I am just impressed with this system. Any real pros or cons???? I have yet to see any cons.
Maybe this is a old thing? New to me so, technical information is appreciated, and links to quality upgrades is also appreciated.
If you do not like the air tool link style please explain why in detail.

i used to be a framing contractor, i had 3 compressors, 6 framing guns, and about 1000 feet of air hose.
i hated air leaks. it was only a matter of time before the fittings would wear out and start leaking. periodically we would change them out. i also have quick connects on my skidsteer, they too start to leak after alot of connecting and disconnecting.
doesnt strike me as accuracy conducive.
