you will have a lot of guys buy up $100 in tickets and have the same odds, some will buy more, some guys less.

I would buy one or two $25 tickets, but not sure I would justify a $100 ticket. although the odds are really good.

I would also think the tag could be included. taxidermy would be at own cost as well as the airfare.

please don't shoot BigBear though...we all like him and he really isn't threatening. he has done a good job staying out of my trashcan for the last week so i think he is making improvement. please give him more time.
I'll agree, 1000 tickets might be hard to sell but I would be much more interested in 25 dollar tickets

Aww.. I'm feeling the love in here! Boy, sure is dusty in here. Byte, I'm sorry about your trashcan. I'll replace it!!! I didn't realize my paws were scratching it up that bad....

As far as the hunt: Even though I'm not a "hunter", I still think it would be a pretty neat chance... Though I've lived in Alaska... so... I'm undecided....

No because I like bear. I tend to pack heavy when I'm walking in the mountains rather than my usual mouse gun but I've really enjoyed the bears I've encountered. It's probably because they ran away from me. (That's also why I'm here to post.)

    How about this question:

Would you pay $100 for a chance in a lottery to use a high capacity Saiga 12 against a flock of Canadian geese?

I'd buy a few ticket for that.

Not meaning to be a buzzkill, just pulled the first thing off google, I don't know bear hunts. But I don't see how its 100x the value? 250 x 100 = 25,000. That's gambling at less than 40% return if I'm guessing right (as in, your chance to win vs the value of your potential winnings). Better odds just playing blackjack or poker imo, and then going on a bear hunt if you win. But I'm one of those weird people that saves all the money he'd blow on raffles and then puts it to use.

Btw: I wouldn't have posted this if it wasn't theoretical. But if it's a research project, honesty comes out!
    no, fair question
I've been told (not seen the specifics) the value of the hunt is about $20,000
the webpage you linked shows about $16,000
seems pretty similar, definitely in the ballpark.

it's a fund raising thing for Friends of NRA, (a 501c3 organization), so you always try to make more than it costs.
Still, $100 for a chance at a 15/20k hunt seems pretty reasonable.

I'm dead if the wife finds out I spent 15/20k on a hunt. but
    "honey I won a 20k hunt for only a $100, look, I saved us $19,000"

    see, that works.

If I were a rich man I'd be all over it.

Slightly different topic though, but how annoyed would you be if you dropped $15k on a hunt, $750-$1500 on the expected tip, couple grand in transportation costs and didn't even get a look!

    depends on the raffle

stuff like Boyscout raffles for camping trips or youth groups school clubs etc selling tickets for a buck or two... I Figure even if I Don't win its a good cause and I'm OK with not winning.

... But I bet with such analytic skill, knowing the odds, you probably don't play poker nor blackjack, do you?

I would pay the hundred for a chance to win. Long as its generally a guaranteed hunt that way it wont be a wasted a trip. Should be able to get some good fishin in also.
