    Default frustration

So yesterday I tried to make progress on my to do list by taking a box of household cleaners I had in storage to the county for safe disposal.

the office is not open on friday. after fuming in my car for a couple of minutes I put the box under the sign and took a photo.

a deputy magically appeared and told me I couldn't leave that box there.

I told him that I was taking a photo to document my frustration that a govt office is not open the full week.

part of me wanted to ask him if perhaps there might be a crime happening somewhere that he might want to go do something about rather than baby sitting the lot of a closed office... but I refrained.

(of course, had the deputy not been there I would NOT have left the box sitting there. that would have been mean. )

I hear you brother. The one by me is closed from 12/23/10 to 2/1/11(remodling). I give up. The place I work at went from the T-12's to the T-8 light blubs and trying to do the right thing and recycle them turns out to be a HUGE pain in the ass, when you have more then 6 to recycle.

Elhuero - you do realize that el Paso County has a sheriffs office sub station right next to this place don't you? Oh, and they have cameras watching things too.

How do *I* know this? The few times I've ever wanted to do the right thing and properly dispose of hazardous waste it was to that very facility - and it was on a Friday, when they're closed.

Taxes go up, services go down.

Take em to home depot, they have drop box for old bulbs help provide work for a (hopefully) legal minimum wage worker, when i used to work construction my company would not recycle to save their life, wasn't worth it for them, so when I would try to take cfls and other floursent bulbs to the depot while picking up stuff

What were you tring to dispose of?

Many cleaners aren't as bad as the warning labels would make them appear. You can neutralize some, let others evaporate, etc. It just depends on the details.

As long as their hours are clearly posted online, it's actually does make sense to offer four ten-hour weekdays and the one Saturday.

What did he say when you told him that?

Colorado Springs budget crunch has made national headlines several times. Either you get low taxes, or you get government offices that are open seven days a week. Of course most people's response would be, "Buuuut I need to use XYZ government service, it should be open! Cut the other programs I don't care about so the ones I do are available!"

It'll be interesting to see what happens with their experiment in the long term.

Bah, this is a socialist program anyway. Let the private sector do the disposal!!

Right? Lower taxes, less govt, more private sector?

Oh, guys I'm sorry. I got no lovin last night and I'm all backed up! Don't you know a guy can die from this?

    H.

    I have an answer.
    Cut Government fat.
The "Site office manager" of LMNOP Doesn't need 140K a year to sit on his ass and BS With the guys about what he did all weekend while doing minimal administrative duties.

There is not enough economic threat for the government. just about everyone else has faced paycuts and layoffs, Comparatively the government FAT at the top has not seen this.
I'm not talking about the Clerk that faces the lines of people everyday, or goes in and punches the clock and works his ass off everyday for 30-60K.
I'm talking about the guys that go in at 10, break for lunch at 11, Come back at 2 only to leave at 3:30 while bilking the taxpayers for an exacerbating amount of money. Congressmen/Women, Senators that don't show up for > 10% of their votes.

A quick google search even from my phone was all that was necessary to tell you the hours.

Sorry man but this is like taking your kid to school on a saturday and getting pissed that teachers aren't there.

I don't even see why this building should be open 4 days a week. 2-3 would be more than sufficient. Saves taxes too.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

    My Feedback
