Default “You can’t sell that thing.”

Make sure you fill out the paperwork correctly...
Ladies and gentlemen, we are pleased to introduce the Taurus 28 gauge short barreled shotgun revolver.
Oops. Sorry. It’s no longer available. Not because they were sold out, but because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said, “You can’t sell that thing.”

The Taurus shotgun revolver, striking fear in hearts of burglars across the fruited plain

Yes, BATFE dropped by the Taurus booth at a major gun show and declared that the Brazilian-made 28 gauge revolver was actually an illegal short barreled shotgun, not a handgun.
As we understand it, Taurus checked the little box that said it was a shotgun instead of the one that said it’s a revolver. And that, apparently, is enough to get it banned in the United States. Burglars and other assorted bad guys are sending bouquets to the boys from BATFE this morning.
Too bad. We had already worked up a nifty little ad slogan for Taurus:
“When you get burglarized, the burglar gets vaporized.”

Naw, S&W just didn't want to be beaten with having their .500 not labled as the "biggest handgun in the world" anymore! HAHA. I bet that Taurus would be a BLAST to shoot!

I thought it was because even if it was a revolver, its still a SBS because it has a smooth bore and there is no equivalent cartridge that would fit in a 28 gauge in order to make it rifled and shoot a cartridge and a shotgun shell.

Dumb move on the part of Taurus.

That mistake just cost them dearly in the wallet.lololo.

I have to agree with crossing the t 's and dotting the i's.

They could have made it a smooth bore pistol, I guess you would need a AOW stamp for that anyway though. "Shoot whatever you can fit into our new revolver!"

    The next to last paragraph-
"Also, despite rumors to the contrary, the .45 Colt/.410-bore lever-action Ranch Hand with the rifled barrel is good to go for importation, as is the 28-gauge Circuit Judge. You’ll see them later on this year, as well as the 28-gauge Raging Judge, with minor modifications."
