What do any of these systems do that can't be done with the current AR platform?
Seems to me like a big ole waste of money.

The federal government is so good at one thing that no one else in the world can compete. They print and spend money. If some of that waste buys a better weapon and makes our troops more effective and is able to save a trooper's life, so be it.
