My first month in US, April 1992 - Los Angeles Riot - My baptism of gunfire. God forbid, it would never happened in bigger scale in US.

    you gotta tell your story.

or post a link to it if you did already.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to hear it.

If the Egyptians had gun rights, would this thing already be over? Or would the army step in and attempt to quash it.

Don't take this rock throwing thing too lightly. There are many countries in the middle east where death sentences are carried out by stoning. You know, death sentences issued for convictions such as marital infidelity or making a slanderous comment about someone.

The thing that appeals to me the most is how quickly vigilante groups formed up to protect their neighborhoods.

All that's needed for peace in Egypt is for there to be a ban on rocks. Maybe big hands as well. Seen a picture of a guy carrying up to four rocks in each hand. Now tell me what reason anyone has for needing to carry so many rocks huh? If Mubarac can't get an immediate ban, at least enact a 10-15 day cooling off/waiting period.

I'd want to believe what would happen is that most of the military would choose to side with their families rather than their oppressive leader. Most military I talk to about the subject of civil unrest in America would choose to do nothing or side with "the people" and worse case scenario from one person "shoot to miss". Me personally, I swear that I will protect the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. That trumps the rest of the oath, leaders of any country CAN be a domestic enemy if they fail to represent the people.

Imagine here or in Egypt; citizens (and all of those ex-military) with guns standing up against their oppressive leaders. Then see how many of the current military would actually kill their own... or would they cross over.

Regardless of who is doing what, you gotta admire the citizens for standing up to their corrupt government WITH STICKS & STONES.

If Dancing with The Stars & major league sports didn't exist you'd see more of that here in the US.

Sports are vast government conspiracy invented by the Romans to keep the populace entertained so they don't cause trouble...or so my father-in-law says. I think they were simply invented by men to satisfy our urge to compete and so we have a chance to beat the hell out of each other without getting in trouble.
