Dear Friends,
Here is another 2nd Amendment update for you all.
As many of you know, Senate Bill 53 was quashed yesterday in committee. It didn’t suffer much, and had a couple great testimonies to defend it. However, the senate majority deemed the event of an epic disaster unlikely, and the need to defend oneself unnecessary. But hey, who can blame them, its not like they have a current example of civil upheaval or rioting right now. And I am sure that Katrina or the Rodney King Riots proved nothing about the extent to which people will go to infringe upon their neighbors rights.
Fret not though, my friends. I do have good news for you all. As some of you know, Senate Bill 77 has been gaining momentum the last couple of weeks. We recently found out that the Fraternal Order of Police voted unanimously to support SB 77! This organization normally leans to the left of things, and usually sides with the Senate majority on 2nd Amendment issues. Thus, having this organization support our bill is HUGE! Even if the bill never makes it through committee, the opponents will be voting against a long time ally.
Also in support of this bill are our friends at the County Sheriffs of Colorado. These heroes serve on the front lines of our communities and know the value of having an armed citizenry to aide in their cause. They are long time defenders of our 2nd Amendment rights and continue to prove themselves so.
So here is your call to arms. We still need testimonies from any of you who have had experience in defending yourself in a place of business with a firearm. We would love to hear these testimonies in the actual committee. However, emailing the senators on the committee is just as effective. Let me stress the importance of being polite and honorable in these emails and testimonies. While many of us do not agree with some of the senators, they are members who are to be respected. They hold the keys to passing this legislation, and the last thing we want to do is disrespect them or anger them; that will greatly hurt our cause. Their emails are:
