I was looking at that kit. Installing a barrel is above my skill level but I have seen it done.

    Hi DOC-
Naw, not above your skill level, lol. It is very easy. I use a 2" piece of angle iron and a rubber mallet and a "C" clamp. Not the "normal" or accept4ed way to go, but works just fine. I put the muzzle brake on the end and just start pounding. It takes a bit, but works great and one advantage over the press or a screw is that if you misalign or something, you can see it quick and fix it. I ruined a barrel and a trunnion with a press and scored a barrel with a screw thingy, so I've used the mallet ever since and have built or helped build about 15 aks by now. You can do it.

p.s.-the amd is a little different than the romys, but no harder. And I used Romanian barrels for all kits I've done except one. Oh, and one pistol build I helped a guy with. That one was a nightmare, though. Probably just me.
Anyways, the amd is all matching, hand picked with a tapco (sorry) receiver flat. But they work just fine. When I feel a little better latter on today I will post the measurements for everything. The kit also has all the rivets, so it is a good deal. You can get a barrel from Apex. Even though they don't have any on their website, there is one on gunbroker for a "buy it now" for $75.00, which is what they charge anyways. Colorado Gun Sales also has some, but I think they want around $100.00 for them.

    I'd be up for it.

I've got a Romy parts kit, compliance parts, and receiver. Just never done it. Doesn't look that hard, but I dont' have the torch to heat treat the rails/holes.

I have 2 romy g kits with barrels, and 2 100% consecutive numbered receivers I would be willing to part with if anyone is looking to do a build. pm

I have a nice Romy "G" I am tearing apart now. I have been getting some of the tools needed to finish the job. If there is any group builds going on, I would be interested. I will be ordering the receiver shortly.
