I hear ya
Same for me, "weapons charge" from Jeffco. Case dismissed with predjudice, case SEALED.
Every time I do a background check it comes up.
When i say, "hey, it's sealed nobody is even supposed to know it exists" - the answer is invariably, "It's sealed against everybody but US". And they're right, the law governing a sealed record doesn't say destroy it, and the "except for valid law enforcement purposes" clause that lets them keep a copy of it.
Oh, and the FBI doesn't EVER seal an NCIC record, once you have an NCIC record you have it for life, or 99 years, whichever comes first.
Welcome to the computer age!
I have little respect for hoplophobes and the general ilk that get their idea of their civil rights from watching Law and Order.
On the occasions I hear about someone making a complaint against an LEO for being overzealous or misapplying a particular law I have to laugh, in general you are encouraged to "push the line". The line is that division between lawful behavior by an LEO and unlawful behavior. As long as a cop says he did something in a good-faith belief that he was not violating the law, he's inviolate. That doesn't mean ignorance of the law will keep him/her safe, but it does mean that if he's acting under color of authority and with good faith that his actions are meant to execute his duties in a lawful manner, he can pretty much do whatever it takes.

places to shoot
very intresting answers here,,I shoot all the time in pike national forest. have been approached several times by forest rangers while shooting. they just say hello and have a quick look around and say enjoy yourself and thanks for not shooting into trees. guess I have been lucky. they have all been very decent.

My Fancy Title
Douglas County Sheriff was watching everyone shoot a few weekends ago on National Forest land at the south shooting site. I shoot most every time I'm on national forest land.

as stated shoot all the time in pike forest, but don't take my rifles just pistols. because it's hard to find an area with 300 + yards of open space between the valleys off gold camp road. without freaking out someone on a dirt bike or bicycle. just plain to many people up there when the weather is nice.
