    Default Grampa's Guns

My dad just gave me a few of his dad's guns. First, a Browning Hi-Power, made in 1964 per the SN, with original paperwork (paid $78.95 new!)

Also a S&W .38spl that my granddad carried through the 40's-50's as a cop in Wichita, and the off-duty holster he made for it. I don't know the model:

Also threw in an old Browning Sweet 16, but I didn't take pics of that.

    Nostalgic stuff is so cool.

Great family heirlooms. They look good.

I think the model number on the S&W is on the frame under the part that swings out holding the cylinder (the yoke).

Thanks guys. Yeah, these guns will never be sold. My nephew will get them when he's old enough to appreciate them. Here's a pic of Granddad and his fellow officers with Hopalong Cassidy. Not sure what the event was, but seems kinda neat to me. Wearing the S&W then.

Nice collection. Thanks for sharing. You would be hard pressed to get a jam-o-matic for less than a $100 these days.

If you ever get over to Vegas, stop in the Pawn Star place with pic, holster, and gun. Get an offer and then walk out.

Looks like their in good shape to! I wish I would have got some of my Grandpa's old guns but my Dad got 1 and the greedy other 2 brothers got the rest 4-5 each.

That would be fun! I imagine I'd feel insulted at their offer, even without wanting to sell.

There are numbers there, but not like you see on more modern Smiths. Where my Model 36 is stamped "36", this revolver is marked "T 3287". There is another series of numbers in the groove where the ejector rod sits, looks like "S 62537 S". I don't know what to make of them. Serial number?

That's a bummer. I guess I got lucky - only son of an only son.
