Q: Why does the Egypt problem stump the US government?

There are secular Muslims, moderate Muslims and all that. They just shut up and do nothing since the crazies are in charge. There were some well know moderates in Egypt and other countries. They got killed or locked up on charges like Blasphemy. Moderates can't make it in this environment since they are moderate. It's hard to go and gun a family down in a spirit of moderation.

I wish I knew how to modernize Islam. There were some unpleasant aspects of Christianity long ago but our ancestors got over it. I think it was the Reformation followed but the many splits of Protestants. There were too many factions and they called truce.

I'm a pretty moderate guy, apart from guns. The great part about living here is I can make moderate or extreme statements and nobody is going to kill me or my family for it. People might think I'm an asshole. I could even get banned from forums like this but nothing else. Looking at the Middle East is like looking at some of the uglier parts of our past 800 or 900 years ago.

The US probably has a problem dealing with this whole issue because we're sitting idle after getting told to do so by the king of Saudi - who also told Obama that we'd regret NOT sitting this one out.
