It's titled THE WAR NERD ON AF-PAK: LOSING THE LONG WAR, ONE MAN AT A TIMEBy Gary Brecher[, the War Nerd. The Exile, in its glory days, was wild and always over the top. It's not fun but does get at our difficulty in fighting guerrilla wars.
We like to think of ourselves as the good guys. If we followed what other countries have done, that would kind of blow up the good guy image. Grabbing 50 men, women and children and shooting them for what happened to Sgt. Allen would have been SOP for many armies. The actual number would varied but this was the way it was fought. The Brits actually won some insurgencies by locking everybody up in concentration camps.
