Default Will alcohol kill my mouth germs?

So I picked up a first aid kit today and it has an emergency whistle in it. I blew it around the house for a few minutes, then went to work. Now I feel like crud and I know that I got whatever my toddler had. Will soaking the whistle in a glass of isopropyl alcohol clean this whistle enough for me to put it back in my kit? Should I bleach it?

I really don't want to germ up my first aid kit in the event that I ever really need it. I should have known better.

If it's metal then boil it. that should kill the unwanted germs.

Boil or any disinfectant. Alcohol should do it.

I thought this thread was going to be somehting like, "I have a cold. Will I cure myself by drinking copious amounts of alcohol?"

Anything on it will not survive very long.

Thank you fellows. It is a cheap plastic one. I let it soak for about 30 minutes.

The alcohol will probably remove the oil from the plastic and make it brittle. Just put it back into the kit. Anything on it will die in a few hours.
