    Default Colorado Nazi's

went to the military show a few weeks back and was applaud by the overwhelming amount Nazi stuff and people actually wearing Nazi uniforms. Am i the only one who is bothered by this ??
Part of me wonders how much trouble Id get in for kicking the living sh*t out of them . Sure free speech and all , but what about the truly offensive act by them to put that uniform on . Is there nothing to do ??? Yeah you might think its just a swastika but its more than that . Being 2nd generation Italian / Jew , I find it very offensive . I grew up with my grand mothers stories (she was the only survivor from my family in the holocaust, shipped out of the country as a little girl in a steamer trunk , 1941) and after hearing those and my great grandfathers stories about those Nazi assh*les (Italian army ww1 and ww2 ) . I wonder how any body especially Americans would willing put on the uniform and endorse the Nazi's ???

Re-enactors? There are a bunch, i wouldn't worry until they start marching and chanting death to jews.

We can't just pretend that it didn't happen.

I went to the Jeffco Militaria show a couple of years ago, held at the fairgrounds near 6th and Indiana. That's probably the same show you went to. Historically I thought it was interesting see the men dressed in various period repro battle gear. I noted that swastikas were not in evidence. I thought is was kind of weird myself, really not my bag and I've never gone back. Mind you I collect militaria, including nazi stuff such as weapons, flags, medals, etc- but I would never wear the stuff nor do I display it openly.

I'm not jewish but my family came from the area in Russia that the Germans invaded. My grandad had contact with them before WW2 but the disappeared between that time. There are lots of people affected by the Germans. I honestly prefer that people who support the ideas that the Nazis had dress like Nazis so that you can identify your enemy. And living in USA gives them the right to dress how they want. Just as it gives you and me the right to marginalize, ridicule, and avoid them. I've never felt threatened by the type that seem to want to glamorize the Nazis. They are sad people.

I understand the history statement but that stuff belongs in the museums and reenactment battle fields. You don't see very many people running around in KKK hood and gowns for history's sake.

Umm...no, it's not in all cases. By that reasoning you disapprove of films, theater, kids dressing up for Halloween, etc...

I understand what you're saying, but don't carry the hatred too far or take it too personally.

Many people simply like the historical aspect of certain groups/cultures/periods of time. I have a lot of WWII guns, memorabilia and collectibles with Nazi markings on them. Doesn't mean I approve of what they did.

I'm fairly disappointed the Confederacy didn't win the civil war...but I married a damn Yankee anyway.

Americans are very disconnected from war. Most have never lost anyone to war. Now, Europe knows war and death. Read some of the statistics from WW1 and WW2. Countries losing 1/3 or more of their male population. And they still live where the war was. We have no idea. There you have generations of people who witnessed it first hand still alive and hopefully letting the younger generations know the horrors of war.
I am not real fond of nazis myself. But, when we used to go to the gunshows in denver back in the early 80s, it seemed everyone else was a nazi. nazi memorabilia, nazi tattoos, nazi patches on jackets and vests, nazi everything. I havent been to but a couple show in the last 20 years, hopefully its changed for the better.

To each his own, I guess as to what they collect and admire.

Having know many survicors and having been to Yad Vashem numerous times and having family in the war, I probably wouldnt pick that side to collect.

    .
no i do not disapprove of film theater ect , although it would be really hard to contain myself if i saw a child dressed in a Hitler youth uniform .
I just think it should be historic and left in a museum or in the theater .
Its not like i spend my time hating these people , its just the instant reaction i have toward Nazi's , KKK , skin heads , black panthers ect . Maybe its the hate and intolerance they represent that strikes instant anger. Yes i am intelligent enough to realize thats why they do it but I guess im not smart enough to not let it bother me when I see it .

What can I say...I was a sucker for a good-looking, intelligent, brunette. Still am after 21+ years.

I hear what you're saying. Then again, it does tend to keep alive the memories of what awful things the Nazis did. Like others have said, some people forget over time. Personally, I think it's important we don't, however unpleasant that may be.
