I was wondering what everyone's opinion is of the Ruger Mini 30?
Are they still in production and are they well made? Who makes a quality magazine for them?
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Yes, they are still making them. That was one of the guns I looked at before I got my AR-15
More than that I can't tell you as I am pretty new to shooting.

I had a Mini -14, They are a nice little PC gun, For a lot less You can get an SKS or, even build an AK clone, For about the same price You can get an Ak clone and have better and more reliable Mags for much less $$$ than You could find Hi-cap Ruger mags for.
I say go for SKS or the AK. You could spent more on Ammo, and a BIG plus, You can have a BAYONET
Don't get Me wrong, if one fell in My lap for the right price I would take it.
Sarcasm, Learn it, Know it, Live it....
Spleify 7-27-12Marlin is the end all be all of everything COAR-15...
Ruger Rifles, professionally endorsed.....

My friend has a Stainless Mini-30 for sale...not listed anywhere.
Very clean...no wear marks
Butler Creek Stainless Side Folder Synthetic Stock and OE wood stock
Multiple Hi-Cap mags
Pre-'94
under 300 round count
Very reliable with quality ammo
Should I ask what he wants for it?
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.
Colorado Osprey
No, I've had one for over 5 years and never fired it. I was thinking about trading it off for something else. I havent heard much good about the rifle in 7.62x39 and was wondering what others have experienced with it, before I make the trade.
If it's a good rifle, then I'll keep it. Quality magazines, or the lack there of, is one of the reasons I was thinking of the trade. Can anyone recommend a brand for the Mini 30's that are relyable?
Hence, my post.
We've had good luck with USA mags, the 20 and 30 rounders are reliable, the 40's are iffy. The rifle only become unreliable with surplus ammo.
Try and find a mag in a nickel finish to match a stinless rifle...it's tough.
gunbroker and gunsamerica have mini-30's in blue for around $600-650..the stainless are getting pretty rare.

thatsdue to surplus ammo a .311mm bullet vs. the .308 dia of us mfg 7.62x39. the mini-30 bore is also .308 not .311 as the sks and ak varients are.
while you do not see many for sale, i have yet see one go for more then $3-400 tops depending on accessories. extra mags being the selling point.
over $3-400 you are into ak pricing+ reliable cheap mags and lots of accessories available.
