I don't like this tactic any more than I like the Westboro kooks actions.

Forcibly imposing your views on someone (or shutting someone else down) is always wrong in a free society.

When assessing a political tactic you have to take an honest look at it and ask yourself if your opponents were to use the same tactic, would you consider it "crossing the line" or "unfair".

If some anti gun organization were to use hackers to take down the NRA, GOA and various gun forum sites we'd all be screaming foul.

That said if these people showed up at the funeral of one of my loved ones I'd be going to jail (and I'd deserve it but if we're going to be a nation of laws and not a nation of men we just have to allow for the existence of these jackwagons).
Modern liberalism is based on the idea that reality is obligated to conform to one's beliefs because; "I have the right to believe whatever I want".

I think Matt Taibbi summed up my feelings about them.
    --------------------------------
    Matt,
Could you please explain to me the point of the Westboro Baptist Church? I know that they hate fags, the military, America, and essentially anything interesting, but could you give me some idea of what exactly it is that they do like and/or stand for?
    Brad Copeland

    Brad,
I think they like press attention.
The Westboro Baptist Church is like the dictionary definition of low-hanging punditry fruit. It's one sociopathic cult leader running naked through, and occasionally squatting to defecate in, the gray areas around the First Amendment. It's gross, but I don't think it's terribly newsworthy. Obviously you can't just ignore them if they're at your brother's funeral or something, but I think we can safely ignore them at all other times.
    ----------------------------------------

Ignore the loathsome tards. They are addicted to attention.

I see more parallels with the Westboro plague and Muslim extremists than with any whisper of Christianity.
It would seem that those responsible for "giving them voice" (ahem, media)- would like to see freedom of speech modified to their agenda, and using a group as toxic as this is a viable and powerful card to play.

We are not just a nation of laws, we are also a moral/virtuous nation at least that is who our constitution was created for.
Their is nothing moraly correct to disgrace the dead, not even the dead of those you believe are in the wrong.
These people are wrong and as a society it is our collective duty to decide what is of moral value for our society.
These disgusting people do us a great favor, they allow us to recongize a common enemy and unite as a society to show the values that we stand for. It's great to see the bikers show up and drown them out with counter protest and this is what every community should do.
Other then giving us a reason to unite for something good and to show an example of how our nation works, these people add no additional value to our society. They are a very small group that will only grown smaller as thier family ages and moves to the grave, they are of no threat to our society as long as we recongize what they are and we stand up in action and voice to make it known that as a society this is not appropriate.

Well put, but I'd still like to see them all in a plane crash

    Yeah, I said it...

I do feel bad for the younger kids that are involved with the church though. They don't know what they're doing, or why they are there; they just want to be kids. After watching the documentary "The Most Hated Family in America," i really felt for the young ones... Makes me hate them even more that they expose their kids to their ignorance...

They are con men. They are all lawyers, they show up and try to intimidate people into violating their "rights" and then sue ... they sue everyone, the local police, the land owner, and whoever punched them in the face.

    They are trolls. Disregard them.
