Good idea to have this with them at all times. I'm printing and laminating one for my 8 year old and I'm going to walk into the school office and hand them one as well.

Thanks for that. I'll print them out and do the same, make sure one is in the kids file at each school.
that's cool. If I had kids, I'd give one to each.
I'm going to do that but on the back I'm going to have an emancipation contract in the event they actually did something really bad.
Its kind of sad that we need to send that with our kids. The schools with zero tolerance have zero common sense.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
-- Samuel Adams
I think if I were going to give that to my kid I'd rewrite it so it makes sense.

Don't wanna get shot by the police?
"Stop Resisting Arrest!"
"Due to my rights...I will not waive my rights"
"...when a law enforcement officer requests an interrogation of any incident..."
Seriously? That makes sense to you? In 15 years as a LEO I never interrogated an incident.
I also find it ironic that people are arguing against "zero tolerance" and supporting this. Isn't this a form of zero tolerance? "Any incident"...???
Teacher: "Johnny...did you shoot that spitwad at Susie?"
Johnny: "I'm not going to answer that question. My daddy told me to give this card to you. I wanna speak to my lawyer."
As a parent I'd prefer to make it clear to the school administration that, should a serious incident regarding alleged misbehavior or illegal behavior by my child occur, I'd want to be notified immediately and be present before my child was interrogated. I also wouldn't put the responsibility on a young child of making a decision on whether or not to answer questions from a police officer or school administrator regarding "any incident".
If it's a minor behavioral problem, I'd expect the school officials to handle it and let me know.
