What Value for Fulton Armory Polytech M14s?

Years ago I found a Polytech M14s which was fun. I got a nice tax refund and decided to let Fulton Armory redo it. This was back in the late 90's. I eventually got it back and realized my ambitions might be competition but my eyes aren't. It is nice. I took it to a couple of CMP matches and 200 yards and out it is all fuzzy to me. I've never shot it that much. When I'm in the mood for a battle rifle my SAR48 with a SUIT scope goes to the range. I've had great success with it at 100 yards but my eyes need glass to go further. Last night I was looking at it and realized I probably haven't fired it in over 8 years. Maybe it needs a new home.

This was his Chinese conversion package. NM rear sight, NM flash hider, medium weight barrel, great trigger. He basically replaced everything but the receiver with GI parts. It has a GI fiberglass stock with a hole where the naughty bits were. Being done during the ban, it has no bayonet lug but someone with better eyes than me could have a great match rifle. I have a pile of mags, including some 5's.

If I were to sell it what would a fair price be? Feel free to joke but I'm asking a serious question. I always could let Gunbroker settle the price but I'm just thinking.

some decent stuff!!
fulton armory does good work-the company i work for makes m-14 castings for them
i would see how much a regular m-14/m1a1 goes for and work from there
it use to be the polys werent desireable due to there heat treating,but now it seems anything chineese is going for big dollars now

you know the tag"rare" -i see it all the time attatched to the chineese stuff now so who knows?

I saw all this stuff about heat treating and researched where it came from. Here's a quote from a collector:

"there was great boohoo from all the 14 builders on how the chicom 14 had to have the receivers retreated...it was a bunch of hooey for a long time the only forged recievers were the government and the chicom till the LRB came on board "

In the 90's there weren't many options' Most M14 type receivers were cast and people were doing rewelds of torched government ones. A cast item is prone to many problems compared to one milled out of solid steel. If there was a need for heat treatment there would have been kabooms or other failure stories. I couldn't find any at all or references to them. There were lots of problems with pure Polytech & Norinco but they were related to other parts. Op roads jumping off, cracking bolts and such.

Clint of Fulton & Walter Kuleck found the Polytech was a good platform for a match rifle. It is a forged receiver with good technique & geometry and the trick was to replace it with all new parts.

I hope to sell it locally since I can include all the options. If it goes to an auction site I'll have to have multiple auctions and I hate packing & shipping.

i allways thought it true about the heat treating issues,just on simple fact they were chineese-now i stand corrected
hopefully you can find an individual to sell to,doing auctions somtimes can be more of a PITA!
