Default I hope nobody here is short a firearm.

FORT COLLINS - Someone visiting the bathroom at Front Range Community College came in armed and left unarmed. A loaded handgun was left on the back of a toilet in a campus bathroom.
The pistol, and its brown leather holster, were found by a student Monday evening in a first-floor bathroom in the Challenger Point building. The pistol had a fully-loaded 15-round magazine, but did not have a round in the chamber.
Concealed carry is allowed on the Front Range campus and the rest of the Colorado Community College system.
A campus spokesman said college safety officers secured the gun and turned it over to Fort Collins Police.
The lost handgun can be claimed by its owner from the evidence room at the Fort Collins Police Department.
"That's a hell of an oversight," said the father of the student who found the gun. "What would have happened if some nutbag grabbed it?"
The father asked not to be identified, saying he fears retaliation by the absent-minded gun owner.
"They're supposed to be responsible gun owners, right? That's how they get to carry a permit," the father said. "I don't see where that's responsible."
"It certainly is unfortunate but I don't believe it's time to call in the National Guard," said Dudley Brown, executive director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners, a gun-rights lobbying group.
Brown says it's not unheard of for a firearm to be left in a restroom.
"If you carry a gun every day, chances are good you could leave it somewhere," Brown said. "Especially in those circumstances where you're paying attention to something else."

Of course, just one more thing against us.

"If you carry a gun every day, chances are good you could leave it somewhere," Brown said. "Especially in those circumstances where you're paying attention to something else."

I don't care much for the above statement made by Dudley, Chances should NEVER be good that you'll leave a firearm somewhere, I don't care how long you've been carrying, or how often you carry.

    Yes, that sounds pretty dumb.

here is what the liberal hears... "Its ok, I mean if someone uses the bathroom at your toddlers daycare they may leave their gun, but its no big deal".

sometimes it pays to just shut up.

I don't ever take my gun off while in the restroom. I tried it the other day because I was tired of making sure I held it up above the bottom of the wall while I was in the first stall. It was a pain and I won't do it again.

I'd say that this is an example that even people who aren't focused so heavily on gun rights can/will still do the right thing.

A gun was left completely unattended in a bathroom stall, and it was STILL turned in to the police and nothing bad happened. I'm surprised no one took the gun, got into a heated debate, and shot the other guy for not believing in the invisible hand.

1- How could you ever "misplace" your sidearm?
2- Why would you set it on the back of a toilet?

The timing is suspect to me. With the upcoming vote on "Constitutional Carry"?
What better way for an "Anti" to plant a seed?
Not to mention adding to the fuel of carrying on campus controversy.

well, to be fair. whenever i pinch a loaf here at work I unholster my gun and place it on the back of the toilet. otherwise it falls to the floor when i pull my pants down.

Who? The same person who just happens to look at the back of a toilet and claims he found it.

How do you forget the most important thing you are carrying?

Dumb-asses like this make progression for us harder...I don't want to be too hard on anyone, we all make mistakes, but seriously, how do you forget that heavy thing on your belt when you walk out and think to yourself, "something feels different?"
