Looking for opinions on fixed blade knives

Here's the scoop- after tax time subsides and before the summer really kicks off I would like to purchase a nice fixed blade knife. While I don't really want to spend an arm and a leg, I would like something that holds a decent edge and will take a little abuse without breaking. Would like something that would do duty as a camp/hunting/tactical blade. Would like to keep the cost below about $150 if possible. I embrace technology so something modern with composite handles or a polymer sheath would be preferred over something with a wooden handle and leather scabbard. First hand opinions are preferred and don't be afraid to post pictures if you have them. Thanks in advance.

I've had a Ka-Bar D2 "Extreme" something or other for a few years now. IIRC I paid $80 on Amazon.com, where I get all my knives, and it's done me pretty well for how much I've abused it. Has some kind of composite rubbery grip (rubbery enough to make it comfortable and easy to grip but hard enough that its not sticky rubber), a blade made of D2 tool steal that holds an edge like none other, and it came with a polymer/zytel/whatever reversible sheath.

I really like the TOPS knives, the Trackers are great or all of their stuff is great, awesome steel and great edges, I have a Rangers Edge II, and a Tracker too. They are tough as shit and if you pick one up You will feel the quality. Just a option.

Those 3 will do everything you are wanting. The tracker is spendy but will last you for forever, along with the other 2.

Anything TOPS will run ya a good chunk of change, decent knives though.

SOG makes some great stuff, but I wouldn't recommend em for what you're looking for. I have a SEAL, and although its a great knife that's put up with most of the crap I've thrown at it, the Ka-Bar is tougher and cheaper (in my experience anyway). The SOG Bowies are pretty good but IMO too pretty to beat on.

If you don't mind putting down just a little more cash than a Ka-Bar, ScrapYard Knife Co is hands down the toughest I've come across.
Look at the Scrapper 6, awesome knife. Also check out the Yard Guard, basically the Scrapper 6 just a little bigger and thicker.

As far as my experience, I enjoy my Sog Seal Pup Elite, it holds an edge VERY well, and is tough as nails.

Thanks Bro-there's some new ESEE's coming out this year Laser Strike,ESEE3 folder, and an Izula II Rat Pack forum knife. Th orange handle one in the pic was last years forum knife only 200 made so it's a collector for me.

I am another Ka-Bar follower. I haven't found a thing that Ralph's $600.00 Randall can do that the $60.00 ka-bar cant.
Just do yourself the favor and get the one with the synthetic grip and sheath. The leather handle gets slippery when wet, and the leather scabbard is not a friend to sea water.
