The real bear of all of this is that if the Goverment were to simply enforce the laws on the books, we could see some headway.

We are a country of imagrants.. I can accept that, but there is a burdonsome process in place that modernization would help by leaps and bounds. We do need improvements in that whole process.

I like the idea of suspending south and central american imigration until the issue is resolved. This is going to be THE issue for the next election, cause lord knows these fops in congress can't seem to get their heads on straight on this one!

I might get some hate mail over this, but here ya go.

Solution: 1 new amendment to the constitution

Proposed Amendment #28: The first 10 amendments to this document only apply to United States Citizens.

Think of the impacts that this would have:
Illegals dont have the right anymore to march around demanding that they be rewarded for breaking the law.
Non-citizens would not have the right to keep and bear arms.
Think some non-citizen is a terrorist? Search the hell outta their house and quarter some troops with em.
No more speedy trials or due process unless you are a citizen, just immediately deport people who are here illegally.
No more whining that someone was monitoring a phone call made by a non-citizen.
They are here illegally you say? Take everything they own and kick em out.
They commit a crime? Make em testify in court about what they did.
Did they do it? Perhaps some cruel and unusual punishment is warrented (i.e. some states consider the death penalty cruel)

All very compelling reasons to come here LEAGALLY and become a citizen.

Sure, there could be some downsides. Any change to the Constitution is an extreme change.....just not for me...

No hate mail from me Ruger. Not sure it would be my soution of choice, but interesting. Not the worst solution I've heard either. I'm not sure that legally we can do some of that stuff to citizens of other countries, aren't there some agreements we follow reciprocally with other "civilized" nations?

if they came from "civilized" nations, they would have stayed there and not be here I'm guessing. :?:

I fully agree with Ruger on this one. Yeah it might sound harsh, taking away rights that they really aren't intitled to anyway, but it is a lot less harsh than what I was thinking:

Supplying fully loaded Longbow AH-64's and A-10's to the Border Patrol. When they see someone sneekin across the boarder, they give them a little 30mm welcome. Hey, they could be terrorist.

    Bingo!!!
Why ship them off and spend our tax dollars. Shutoff the jobs and they will go back on their own.

Many employers know full well they are hiring illegals (walmart janitorial for one). If those employers faced significant penalties, the available jobs for illegals would drop substantially. Supply & demand: less jobs, less people coming over the border.
We've got to put all possible solutions on the table here, not just come up with an easy target scapegoat.

Also, when nafta got shoved down our throat, it was "supposed" to help the economies of our southern neighbors. Well, it's not helping, actually the only people making out from nafta are the big corporations.

More lies from politicians - why am I not surprised.
