what are you even talking about? youre going off on a tangent that doesn't even have anything to do with this situation. yes there are some people and businesses out there that don't learn or use english. thats a shame, but their right. there are americans living in europe who don't speak the native language. big freaking deal. the only ones that significantly bother me are the ones that benefit from public education and don't even know the language. my wife has to teach a lot of these kids and they slow down everyone else because they don't understand a word. i agree that to be in the school system you should have to take a year to just learn english. but for people who come here and want to run their own business? they can do whatever they want. i may not shop there, but i still favor them being able to run a business in whatever language or culture they desire.
Good for you.
As long as they run business in their own language and they get forms and signs in languages other than English they have no need to learn it.
Why should they bother teaching their kids when they have teachers paid with our tax dollars wasting valuable time doing their parents job.
I am oviously barking at the wrong tree.
I will keep my closed-minded repubblican ideas to myself and I will keep to gun related threads.
Sorry I bothered you.
I've heard some 'working behind the scenes' folks say to avoid this place. I stock up on pork shoulder & leg when it's 99 cents a pound and buy it in the sealed bag from the meat processer. One tip though; Walmart will match ad prices so take your Liborio ad (and Sunflower, Sprouts, etc.)there for better quality at the same price. Some clerks claim to not honor the ad because of quality differences, although they're not posting that caveat in the store. Target a clerk that looks like they don't give a care. (Not too hard to find @ Walmart)
the day you start forcing people to adopt specific cultural changes is the day this stops being america. im as conservative as the next guy and love american and believe it should be embraced by every sane person. but if i can tell someone the culture they have to have and the language they have to speak, what am i going to say when someone turns around and tells me the same thing? or in a different part of my life? i agree its best for people to learn english and join society, but if they don't want to its their perrogative. they are the ones losing out in the long run, not me. as a pharmacist i will try to help them as best i can, but if they don't speak english there are no promises i will be able to. their loss.
now as i said, when it comes to kids in the school system its different. kids who are not native english speakers should spend a year in a separate school that only teaches proper english before joining regular school systems. this is for two reasons: 1) their own good and to better their education, and 2) because its a service provided by the government and therefore they can specify prerequisites to use their services.
