Is it within city limits? I think the 150 rule is feet though, and not yards.

I think everyone missed the important works in my reply post, I said the rule is for BLM and national forrest, not open space.

Also, most of the open space is county land, even though it is owned by the city, it is still maintained by the county. my house backs up to about 1000 acres of open space, so i would love to shoot there. I am still trying ti find an answer for you.

And yes it is leagal to poses a firearm on open space.

No, you can not discharge a firearm in Boulder County Open Space.

If you need to read it somewhere:

Discharging or carrying firearms, crossbows, fireworks, explosives or projectile weapons of any kind are not permitted except as expressly mandated by Article 12 of Title 18 of the Colorado Revised Statutes, as amended.
    • This includes paintball, BB, pellet, air, paint ball, and blow guns; rockets, crossbows, longbows and slingshots ($300 fine).

Thanks. I'll have to remeasure where I usually shoot from on my property then.

so wait, ok this is confusing as hell. but from what I understand....we OWN the land but give boulder county free access to use it for research purposes. we also own the mineral and natural gas rights on that large portion of what I thought was just open space.

talk about a mind fuck. basically it is our land, but boulder county is allowed to do research and use it for other purposes.....as long as its not open to the public and they aren't drilling for oil or natural gas.

    so now what?
