Default gramps old 1900'S hopkins & allen - CLOSED (30 days inactivity)

ive got this hopkins & allen top break pistol.it is a five shot top break revolver.
it is marked the hokins & allen arms co.Norwich Conn. U.S.A us pat date aug 21 1906 safety police ,i have been reading that after a fire in 1900,the company had made an effort to regain its former place in the market,by producing a new model in 1907, called the "safety police" in .22rf , or .32 or .38cf- i guess cf would stand for center fire?????

the pistol was hardly used and i would like to fire it. please help.
i see midway ammo has .38s&w rounds. also was thinking of trying some .38 short colt. its a 95 grain slug. alot smaller than the .38 s&w 146 grain.
The firing pin seems to be in the center and is nipple shaped.
it makes me think it is a center fire cartridge handgun.
the gun has no markings indicating what round to use, but it fits the .38 s&w center fire cartridge .. ANY THOUGHTS FELLAS???
