Exclamation Left Hand Shooting and Surrounding Area Closed

Thought this should warrant a new thread. Left Hand and the area around it is closed. Closed for shooting, 4x4'ing, hiking... no entrance is allowed at all. Basically, there are no shooting areas open up Left Hand Canyon proper. The notice posted on the closure barricades and other areas said the whole area is closed until the end of May. I get nervous when an area is closed this long. This is not good. It has been reported that the fire started in Choas Canyon ( I knew it as Carnage Canyon) which is the closed off trail just at the north end of the shooting area. Since that trail has closed I only see an occasional hiker go up there and I have seen shooters head up that way when the line is full. Lets all hope that they don't find the fire was started by a shooter. That, in my opinion, would be a major setback in re-opening the area to shooting. I see the posts and cables that close off Carnage Canyon shot up by idiots shooting up the closed trail.
The fire started around 10:30 Am on Friday morning. i can't imagine there were many shooters up there at that time of day... it only takes one moron though... the old area was set on fire by a douche bag shooting incendiary rounds a few years back, and it was only a few months later it was shut down for good. Stay tuned...

I saw the closure notice too

I suspect the libtards will now do anything to keep it closed. Unfortunately they forget you can shoot pretty much anywhere in RNF.

Personally I would like to see LHC re-open as it tends to keep the idiots in one spot. Also keeps the damage caused by said idiots to one area.

I tend to shoot up past Jamestown but will use LHC on occasion, it's handy.

In effect until May 27, or until rescinded (yeah, right).

Yes, I know the place. Was a nice little secret years ago now its become more popular. We gotta stay on top of keeping it clean as it is so visible. I've had people stop their vehicles right where you park as if to "show" you they know we are there... I'm thinking locals...? who may not want to see this area become a JF.

Huh... the map shows the mining claims are open to access. They show as "private" in the legend. They are the grey slivers to the left side if the map surrounded by green. I dont remember seeing the little Forest Service Boundary markers back there. Wonder if its Patented claim land where it really is private... hmmm...

I pick up 'extras' whenever I'm up there. I've noticed that it can suffer from 'shotgun cartridge syndrome'! They're bright red and yellow so how come they're so hard to pick up

You tend to get more looks if you go up there mid week. The Sheriff just normally waves as he drives past.

I actually found the place by accident when they closed the N Site and I went for an explore.

I thought they were just fixing the road there....
