Wow...I don't even know what to say. Very sad situation for so many of our heroes.

I worked as a councilor in a mental health hospital here mostly on a unit for military. Its amazing the forms PTSD can take and the people that it can effect. Very insidious and I fully believe in its potential and have seen it first hand. Frankly after hearing some of the men's stories, I would be surprised if they didn’t have long term implications from their experiences.
A lot of the soldiers I worked with, as any true hero would do, felt less than heroic about their experiences. Almost ashamed of their resulting condition, under the premise those from past wars had it worse and handled it. After hearing a lot of soldiers experiences, these wars as it seems to me, come with a terrible mental burden, in that every moment they were over there, they were at risk, no behind the lines, no safe zone, just constant justifiable fear of attack, either IED, mortar, rocket, vehicle born suicide bombers and on and on . I can’t even imagine what this would do over the course of several years.
