nope. I'm about 1 mile east and 3 north of Elizabeth. I'll be driving to Castle Rock in about 30 mins though. Camera will be at the ready.

Unless we get some big storms soon this spring and summer might be a horror show for the front range. I'm along the foothills and everything it totally dry.

Just drove 86 from Elizabeth to Castle Rock. Lots of smoke, but traffic was not much worse than normal. More horse trailers, but no major backups.

    edit:
sounds like the evac area is from Flintwood on the east, 86 on the south, Parker rd (83) on the west, and Hilltop on the north.

Fire sounds like it's south of Bayou Gulch, otherwise there'd most likely be structures already burned.

The crawl on TV just said 8,500 homes evacuated.

    Yowieee!

You guys duck and cover down there. I'm really familiar with it having grown up in Ponderosa Park (Northwest of Elizabeth) in the 60s and 70s. Lots of trees out there and with this wind it could get bad. We're about 17 miles South of Kiowa and the air is really smoky here.

Good luck and God bless all of you in the danger zone.

Quite a few stations have gotten the number wrong, it is actually 8,500 people. Either way, quite a few people.
