Try stadium auto parts or other pick part yards.

Try going to a pull and save. You can probably order one from Summit Racing for about your price range.

Never mind. Looks like a whole unit. Expensive. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Year/2004/Make/CHEVROLET/Model/BLAZER/Department/Exhaust/Part-Type/Catalytic-Converters/?Ns=Rank|Asc

Otherwise, give Stadium Auto Parts a call, I'll bet they have one for less.

EDIT: Get off my koolaid gnihcraes!

    exactly
and Autozone, Checkers and Napa are all just as bad.
I was "warned" about buying a used cat as it might have the same problem in a few months.
from what I understand this is quite common...

at this point I am almost forced into selling a firearm to fund this mess.

yea buying a used converter is like buying used spark plugs. you can haggle the little muffler shops down, just tell them the shop down the street quoted 150. it works

Most salvage yards won't even sell converters- either legal issues, or they're just worth more as precious metals...

if you can't get a "universal" cat to fit (many post- y2k vehicles will be so designed) then your cheapest bet is to move to the country where they don't bother with things so trivial as emissions testing... :-)

more seriously, tho- what's wrong with it? if it's rattling- then yeah, you need a new one, and maybe a new muffler, as pieces of it may have clogged it up...

    is it clogged?

or what diagnostic codes from the computer?

before you even ask- yes, I have "trust issues" with all mechanics... not all of them are crooked, some are just taking the easy way out, or actually believe there's no alternative to replacing it.

I would like to stay in the U.S. long enough to NOT wake up at 5am expecting to hear the call to prayer.
