I have a Springfield GI that I bought used. I don't know how many rounds have been through it, but it definitely looks well used and I know I haven't been easy on it. Everyone complains about the MIM parts, but mine has held up well...I figure when they break I will fix them, but until then why mess with it?

I've owned 3 Springfield 1911's, one a GI Champion, and 2 Loaded models. The GI was a little bit more stubborn "breaking it in", the second loaded I owned was used and ran flawless. The third I picked up recently, brand new from GMG, and I can not say enough good things about this pistol. My first time out, I shot 400 rounds through it, and only had 3 FTF's early on. Since then, it's eatin everything i've ran through it, and is a mighty fine shooter.

Umm.... what? high end Springfield are considerably above colt, take that from a former colt only owner . i now own a S.A. TRP operator and had before a MC operator.

I have a full size MIL SPEC, a GI Champion, Full size loaded and SS Champion loaded on order(was hard to find at a good price). I like my Springfields and they are all quality. I do dislike the made in Brazil thing but again IMBEL is known for quality in the FAL world too. Another 1911 I like is the Smith & Wesson models(MADE IN THE USA). All I will say is I have more of them than SPRINGFIELDS. That is another good brand to consider. I like the fit and finish on the dull stainless versions. They are also a bit more accurate (for me) than the Springfields. I do have a PD and Compact pro as well which are made of the lightweight metals. They are quite light but you have to use mags that dont eat up the feedramps. Springfield has that same issue with their light weight models as well. Both Springfield and Smith and Wesson have excellent customer service. I did see on GUNBROKER that 5280 Armory has a very nice looking SMITH in Stock http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=224051200

    and a Springfield loaded

    Wish I had the money!
