That just makes me sick. Anyone who would abuse a child's trust like that, position of authority or not, should be put to death.

Wow, that gives new meaning to the meme Pedobear!

    Hmmm.... mixed thoughts here.

    1) If the guy is found guilty in a court of law, put him under the jail, preferably in an oxygen free sealed container.

    2) He hasn't been convicted yet. His relatively low bond would seem to indicate there is some weakness in the case against him. Given the propensity for the "news" media to sensationalize stuff, it's entirely possible that when all of the facts come out, that he's guilty of nothing more than being stupid. Trial by public opinion flat pisses me off, as all someone has to do is blab to one of these so called journalists, and someone's life can be destroyed, long before a jury decides guilt or innocence.

Some of you may remember the United Bank robbery/killings years ago in Denver. The man accused of those murders was the father of one of my good friends. He was acquitted after a 6 month trial, lost his job, nearly lost his house, and had to declare bankruptcy. The newspapers crucified him, and branded him a killer, when the most compelling evidence against him (a retired police officer) was the outline of a novel he was writing. To this day, he has to deal with repercussions of this fiasco, even after he was cleared of all charges.

Crimes that are not violent in nature usually do not have a high bond set. They probably also added in that he was a cop, with ties to the community.. blah blah blah.. not much of a flight risk.. turned himself in, all that stuff.

The fact that they issued a press release makes me think that they have plenty of evidence to convict, and asking for others to come forward to find a pattern of behavior for harsher charges. It could also imply that it was leaked and they wanted to head it off at the pass should anyone say they tried to cover it up.

Just my opinion.. I could be horribly wrong.

The press release was to get ahead of the media, so they can't say that Aurora was hiding anything. Looks like they did their own investigation and didn't ask for an outside agency.

He was charged with one count of felony exploitation of a child, one count felony contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and a misdemeanor charge of official misconduct.

No counts of sexual assault, which he would have committed if he had sex with a 15 year old, given he is over 10 years his senior. From the limited information and the charges, I'm guessing she stayed at his place, he provided her with illegal substances, such as liquor, took inappropriate pictures of her on his department cell phone and did something with those photos. Just guessing. No ties to this case or do I have knowledge other than what is in the news.

No need for all this. He will be an excop and pedo in jail. Think about it, the two things real criminals hate the most according to their bizzare creed. I also agree to reserve judgment until all the facts are in.

Well, IAD said they seized his smartphone and found sexually explicit photos of the 15 yo complainant as well as a few candid underskirt shots it appears he took of young girls during his D.A.R.E. class.

Ex-cops never go into general population. He will be in the protective custody wing.
