when in fact they are most likely deputized volunteer citizens carrying their own private weapons... which is what this country was founded on.

I was in this when I lived in AZ. It's basically an auxiliary police force, very well trained and very well organized. We went through the same handgun training that sworn officers received . . . 115 hours.
