Listened to this at drive time today and…yup...I apply a double standard. Cant’ justify it, can’t and won’t try to defend it but…I definately apply a double standard here. I’m good with my position and reconcile it with no problem. If compelled, I could even argue in support of it to an extent.

I’ll side-step the “positions of trust, psychological, emotional, developmental, physical and consequences” topics associated with this but…me...in general...
- 31 year-old male, regardless of his role in life, having any sexual contact with a 16 year-old female? I would try to be the first in-line to beat him mercilessly if I could get away with it. I just can’t accept that.
- 31 year-old female, regardless of her role in life*, having protected sex with a 16 year-old male? While I would struggle to ever advocate it, I just have no problem with it.

* DISCLAIMER: I have to say this though, the one aspect of this specific example I can't reconcile is that she was in a direct role of authority (her student).
