    Default M80 vs M855

Got some 1/4" mild steel plates, threw them out there at 200 yards. I found it interesting to see the results of LC M80 out of an M1A vs. LC M855 out of an M4. M80 never penetrated... M855 left holes every time. Thought I'd share...

Steel core vs. lead core. M80 isn't AP.

There is slightly more to it than the core material. I suspect you would see the same results with the old 55gr lead core rounds too. It has to do with the dispersion of energy based on the diameter of the round. This is why at 100 yds, 223 ammo will leave dimples in ar500 plate, but typically not from the 308.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.
