    Default Any poker players here?

I took my shot from 2006 through 2009, paid my bills, the game changed and I failed to adapt, oh well, that's life. However a good friend of mine is backing me in the Friday's Heartland Main Event, is anyone else playing in it? Love to put some faces to the names if anyone will be at the Golden Gates. I'm 6' red hair and long beard, come say hello.

The game became hyper-aggressive. My tight/aggressive style needed to change and I struggled with having to bluff 5x as much. I used to win so many tournaments at The Gilpin if I were in the room and there was a final table the players would ask me to come over and consult on how to make a fair deal. Not to mention that I started to run really really bad. As a math person and career salesman I did very well reading my opponents. I was known for getting my money in good and getting run down like a moth on the highway. I played for kicks yesterday online and was in the top 10% of the field for hours then as we approached the bubble I took one sick bad beat after another.

Here is a few recent example:
I have $6354 blinds are $50/$100 $10 ante and I've been playing great the villan has $3900.
    me(BB): KcQh
    villan(cutoff): 7d9d
This guy raised every single time from the button and cut-off in an unopened pot. He made his standard raise, I defended and here's how it played.

flop: Js5dKs I check setting up an early check raise just in case he is holding spades. He leads out about 1/2 the pot $350 and I tank for 10 seconds and raise to $1200. He tanks and his clock ticks off 30 seconds, but I can tell he is setting up the bluff.....bang he shoves and I snap call. He turns over 7d9d. I'm 90% to win the hand.....

turn: Kd now I'm about 85% to win....but we all know what's coming

    river: 10d

The Ameristar has the action games now. They regularly run $1/$2-$100 (remember Colorado has a $100 single bet limit) $2/$5-$100 and the juiciest $30/$60 limit anywhere. I watched the game last week and there was over $25k on the table.

I like the dealers at The Lodge but they don't have the players that Ameristar does. The Golden Gates has 4 tournaments a day with a $300 buy-in on Sunday's. Right now all tournaments are on hold until after the Heartland this weekend as they run qualifiers all day.

Yea use to play some of the local leagues (DPT, CP) but I had my fill of all the donkey's around thinking they are going to quailify for WSOP. Most of the people I have come across have a huge ignorance on how the games suppose to be played and whats respectable and not. Sure you can win a hand with 8,2 off suit but you really think you can ride that bs luck forever? Yea I think I will start heading up to the hills this summer.

Play only for fun and even that is rare, not even remotely close to a career option for me. Good luck in the event, clean-up man.
