Default Took the 4yr old shooting

So I took my 4yr old daughter shooting this morning. I had to test fire my new 10/22. We also took the Marlin youth single shot 22, and an AR. Some left over pink party balloons stapled to a pink diaper box made for a perfect target for a now enthusiastic little girl. At 25yrds and supporting the rifle for her, neither one of us could really see the sights, more or less from the hip, not expecting much. The first shot hit two balloons (a little overlap). Being her first experience with live ammo I had to tell her she hit a balloon. I wish I wasn't behind her and could see her face, boy was she happy (score Dad). Second shot I figured we got lucky with the first (ya), we got lucky again, another balloon goes down. So as to not loose out on the excitement I ask, "do you want to try the big one?" She agrees, I bust out the AR. We count down 1..2..3..fire, still from the hip, we walk it over and pop a couple more balloons. Daughter had fun and was reiterated safety every 10 sec, she finished the morning in the truck safely watching her movie while dad burnt the rest of the rounds. Maybe I could start this one off earlier than I did my 11yr old, he isn't too enthusiastic about dads hobby. None the less a great morning.

+1 I am waiting until she is 8 (currently 5) as a compromise with the wife. Cannot wait for that day to come!

just think, there are people out there that if they could would prosecute you for child abuse and endangerment for exposing your daughter to dangerous and lethal firearms.

More kids are killed in Cars than in firearm related incidents in this country.
Guns are a right, those goddamned Land rovers aren't.

I started Little-Byte last week with Opies P22
