It's not my responsibility to spend my time and resources as an individual to build a fence along the border. That's why we hire people. You know? Politicians?
It's ludicrous to say that I (or anyone else) don't have the right to complain about our porous borders if I'm not willing to build a fence. Jesus Christ! That's why we pay taxes.
That's like saying I can't complain about air traffic controllers falling asleep on the job if I'm not willing to go sit in a tower. Or, because I don't like the way TSA has airport security all fucked up I should go out to DIA and start my own passenger screening process? You probably need to take just a minute and think about what you're saying.
And I'm pretty sure I don't care if anyone thinks I'm "picking on illegals". You're damn right! They're the ones crossing the border illegally. Who should I "pick on"? Jehovah's Witnesses?
I say forget the fence. Mine the border. This has been a serious problem since I was a kid in the 70s. 40 years is enough time to solve the problem. Our system isn't broken. Our elected officials are broken. We already have the laws in place to stop illegal immigration. We need national leadership with balls enough to enforce those laws.

lets stop calling them Illegal Immigrants.
Most of them are not immigrants. They are expatriates.
They come here, work, send money home and then leave.
They are Criminals like car thieves, Burglars, and Ponzi scheme brokers.
the fact that we have a Colorado Congresswoman that admits that members of her family are criminals and she advocates that behavior without LEGISLATING TO CHANGE THE LAWS. surely displays the level of "Fucked" we have attained.
do we need reform? yes. Make it easier to immigrate? yes
I've been through the system with 2 wives and its hell.
that doesnt mean we are allowed to skirt the law simply because we dont agree with it.
Follow it or change it.
I have no problem with immigrants who come here legally and follow the rules in place...regardless of where they're from.

This pissed me off when I heard it and two days later I'm still pissed.
Why do non-citizens have more benefits (in-state tuition) than citizens?
Why are the politicians not being brought up on "aiding and abetting a criminal" charges or the like?
Why is this open ended? If they had said for the next two years we will allow this to happen as part of an overhaul of our immigration system then it would be less difficult to choke on but open ended? That's not right.
I'm all for educating people, helping them escape the circle of poverty and allowing for a path to citizen ship but this just smacks me right in the stomach. We can afford to bomb yet another Muslim country, fight two wars but can't lower tuition costs for our own citizens yet can do it for illegals? WTF??? Why?
We need a grown up discussion on immigration but it won't happen until the politicians get around to it.
In my opinion you can't kick them all out... people will go into hiding even worse than they are now. A fence or mines across the border won't work either. Penn and Teller did a show where they built a copy of the proposed fence and had three teams cross. One over, one through, one under. I think the slowest team was still under 1m30sec. How can you catch, detain, process and release a never ending flood?
The system needs revamping as everyone knows but... how? who? when? I don't have the solution and haven't really seen an agreeable plan yet. There's going to be some sort of amnesty program, I don't see how you could bring change without that. I don't agree with it, don't like it, think it rewards criminals but... don't see how a change in immigration procedures would happen without some sort of amnesty. Unfortunalty anytime the subject is brought up the politicians hide behind party lines and fling poo at each other.
And there's the usual line of "well I guess you're parents are Native Americans and didn't migrate into the country". Bull shit. I have no way of knowing how my ancestors entered the country but that line still doesn't work. I don't know what the immigration process was 300 years ago. If you go back far enough then the "native" people migrated from current Siberia so, if you go back far enough, all our ancestors came from someplace else. Guess we're all Africans eh?

I'm assuming you came here legally? I have no problem with that if that's the case. If you're here illegally, I have a huge problem with it.
As for the rest...yeah, it sucks. But it's not the responsibility of the US to take in every person from every third-world shithole.

Glad to hear that as I'm a 'legal' immigrant.
For the record illegals piss me off too. What pisses me more though is the fact that we know where they are and do nothing about it!
I can't see how the CO Senate can support illegal students as you're supposed to show your immigration status for higher education - a student visa. Does that mean CO is performing an illegal action by doing this just the same as a business is doing so by employing an illegal.
A lot of libtards give AZ grief regarding their policies on illegals but don't realize its a Federal requirement to prove employment status not a state requirement.
My first day at work here in CO I had to show my Green Card! Not that I mind in the slightest.
Illegals - round them up and ship them out! If the libtards don't like it they should go South of the border too.
I have some very good friends here who recently moved from their home country. It cost them a fortune...not to mention the brain damage involved in completing all the necessary paperwork and such. I'm happy they're here.
I'm happy for anyone who gets to come here LEGALLY. It's the "legally" part that seems to confuse so many otherwise intelligent people.
And it does seem that any state legislator that would sponsor such an act should be criminally culpable.
And, like you, I have to prove my legal right to work here.
