This pissed me off when I heard it and two days later I'm still pissed.

Why do non-citizens have more benefits (in-state tuition) than citizens?
Why are the politicians not being brought up on "aiding and abetting a criminal" charges or the like?
Why is this open ended? If they had said for the next two years we will allow this to happen as part of an overhaul of our immigration system then it would be less difficult to choke on but open ended? That's not right.

I'm all for educating people, helping them escape the circle of poverty and allowing for a path to citizen ship but this just smacks me right in the stomach. We can afford to bomb yet another Muslim country, fight two wars but can't lower tuition costs for our own citizens yet can do it for illegals? WTF??? Why?

We need a grown up discussion on immigration but it won't happen until the politicians get around to it.

In my opinion you can't kick them all out... people will go into hiding even worse than they are now. A fence or mines across the border won't work either. Penn and Teller did a show where they built a copy of the proposed fence and had three teams cross. One over, one through, one under. I think the slowest team was still under 1m30sec. How can you catch, detain, process and release a never ending flood?

The system needs revamping as everyone knows but... how? who? when? I don't have the solution and haven't really seen an agreeable plan yet. There's going to be some sort of amnesty program, I don't see how you could bring change without that. I don't agree with it, don't like it, think it rewards criminals but... don't see how a change in immigration procedures would happen without some sort of amnesty. Unfortunalty anytime the subject is brought up the politicians hide behind party lines and fling poo at each other.

And there's the usual line of "well I guess you're parents are Native Americans and didn't migrate into the country". Bull shit. I have no way of knowing how my ancestors entered the country but that line still doesn't work. I don't know what the immigration process was 300 years ago. If you go back far enough then the "native" people migrated from current Siberia so, if you go back far enough, all our ancestors came from someplace else. Guess we're all Africans eh?
