My idea was to drill a hole in the top of the pin and screw an I-bolt or something in there to tie it off. This works just as well. Thanks for taking the idea from paper to real life.

Great design. You don't mind if I use it do you? I hate setting up pins after shooting them. Is there a way to keep them from swinging uncontrolled?

Use it all you want. I was just bored at work one day and thought of the cheapest, simplest way to keep a pin mounted.

To control swing, you could either make the rope/chain holding it very short, or just drill out the bottom of the pin, and slide the pin down directly onto the rebar. OR, you could put a hook on top of the pin and have two mounting points on the rebar, and one on the pin. Then it would swing instead of twist.

Where did you get the pins, stu? I know bowling alley used to give old ones away. Or they still do?

I called about ten different bowling alleys, and got answers ranging from "No, we don't give them away," to "We give them out as gifts for birthday parties," to "Sure, we only charge $2.00 a piece."

Then I called Lucky Strike in Downtown Denver and the guy said he'd give me a box for free. Turned out "a box" was 17 pins. It was way more than I could carry and the guy even pulled them to my car on a dolly. He said I could call him for pins anytime I wanted. Pretty of them/him.
