It was a lot easier than I thought. I'm tempted to do the Romy's and meet to shoot these.
Swedish Pine Tar is amazing stuff. Here's some Romy wood after the tar:

Here's after shellac on top. I knocked down the gloss with some 0000 steel wool. It was really shiny.

I'm using links since these are higher res pictures.
I have way more tar then I need and quite a lot of shellac flakes. I'd be happy to share with local builders. BYOC (Bring Your Own Containers).
