They got some good ideas but I think either some of em are hard core survivalists, or old hippies.

    Which part caught your eyes?

The Darwin: survival of the fittest, the end is coming, buy our ultimate pack for $4999!!!

    or

The blog on "My husband and I were stuck for 10 months in the wilderness, so you better buy 55 gallon drum today!!!"

No disrespect to survival homestade of course.. and I am over exaggerating.
Nevertheless, I have been looking for a good source of reading on preparedness and self reliance- not survival or the end of the world as we know it. I.E. always have bic lighter in your pocket just in case vs. You must buy the top of the line magnesium fire starter proven by the Ski Troopers of Norway/Swiss/Finns and the Sherpa of Mount Everest.

    Any direction is well appreciated!

I kind of looked at the site and thought that there were some good things but also they are there to sell you something as well.

Money will help but it will not buy one a clue. One could spend 2 million and have it all put away waiting for the end and if it comes could ya just see Muffy and Buffy open up the shed and say "Were Saved!" while looking down the barrel of a 50 going "which end does the bullet go in?" Better to be long on knowledge and short on gear than the other way around.

Everyone and there situation is unique so the "one size fits all" makes me uncomfortable. I always try to look at what the poster or person is trying to achieve. Where do they want to be and where do they want to go?

When I started this forum I said that one of the points to be made here was that this is for the Colorado area. We have needs that are much different than Texas or Florida. The threats and possible disasters we face are unique to a couple state area. We really do not give a crap about AC but heat is another matter for us.

    Just some thoughts.
