Hmmm...possibly get killed in a war zone???? Was he sick the day they taught common sense in Jounalism school? Perhaps some soldiers don't like being misrepresented. Reporters have never done anything to contribute to the success of a war by inserting themselves into it and need to stay the hell out of it. It is sad that this POS gets more attention than the 8 AMERICANS that gave their lives that day! Where's the thread on that? Good riddance...

I was waiting for this thread, and then waiting for the first journalist bashing post. Four posts in, congratulations coloccw.

"Reporters have never done anything to contribute to the success of a war"... Pretty sure that is Not Their Job. They should be there to report the truth of the matter, not the BS we get fed by the governments involved.

RIP for sure, what a great film and the world will miss film makers such as Tim. We need more like him, God knows the rest of the media in this country.

I've been trying to watch it, but haven't been able to rent it yet. Is there anywhere to watch it online? I've seen the trailers, but that's about it. Is it at RedBox?

Definitely RIP. War correspondents put themselves to harm's way to tell what they've seen. They generally aren't government employees so people might not like what they have to say. The best who go up front tend not to be overly ideological and are close to the troops. The political ones are sitting safely in comfort well in the rear writing left wing or right wing BS.

If you want to read about one of the good ones, check out Ernie Pyle.

IIRC Erie Pyle was unapologetic on "our" side. Most correspondents today are very much not on "our" side. The main reason journalist get into it is to tear down the US. They are at time justified but that shouldn't be their purpose.

Having lived through the Vietnam debacle and seen how the "press corp" spun every story and every picture to bend public opinion against our armed forces I have learned to simply not believe any of them.

Remember how our guys lost the Tet offensive? .. no wait we totally kicked but and destroyed the Viet-cong. Hmmmm.

    Restrop was a hit piece.
