Just like all cops are bad, right? Or all of any profession is bad because the few bad apples make the headlines, right? When you make generalizations on an entire group of people it doesn't make you look very intelligent. I'm not saying there aren't bad ones out there but to piss on the grave of a man you knew nothing about simply because of his profession is pretty ignorant & serves not to make him look bad but does a pretty good job of making yourself look bad.

I rented Restrepo from RedBox. It was pretty good. My opinion is that they sometimes need to pick better people to do PR liason for the villagers in Afghanistan. There was a scene with the Captain talking through a translator about a person they were trying to find (or something similar) that had killed an American. He just flat out said "you're not understanding that I don't give a #%@$ about ....."

When reporters, people who contribute nothing to the effort and have no need to be there, jeapordize the lives of those who volunteered to give everything for what they believe in, we will piss on thier graves. Aside from the fact that reporters have almost gotten all of us killed over there, they needlessly use up valuable money, recources, and time desperately needed eslewhere, and have caused the death of several of our servicemen/women. Perhaps you remember planes full of relief supplies the day after the earthquake in Haiti being diverted for hours so reporters could fly in like they are kings, or did you miss that?
We know we are generalizing about reporters. Our "intelligence" comes from our experience around the world (not what we are fed on CNN/Fox/MSNBC/etc...) and our experience has yet to find a reporter that is worth the piss we would donate to his grave.

Much like the people who protest military funerals I respect their RIGHT to say whatever they want.. that's what this country is founded one amongst other things... but the fact that they CHOOSE to do so at a funeral displays complete lack of class and tact. A human being lost their life. You can try to defend your comments all you want but regardless of what YOU think you are coming off rude, tactless and ignorant making them in this thread the way you did. You may find that funny but I find it pretty sad actually that you don't mind that your character comes off as such and even defend it when called out on it.

You say they "contribute nothing", I assume you're thinking they are contributing nothing to the war. That's not their job. They are contributing something valuable, and that's getting an "independent" (cough, for some value of independent) view of what's going on. That may not seem to have any value to you, but to the people back home who are funding the war, it's important that they know what's going on. If what they see isn't what they want to see, then they can petition the government to change or stop what's being done. Again, if your view was that of a grunt with a mission to accomplish and blinders on to any other facet, then I'm sure a journalist is just a piece of shit getting in your way and trying to get your people killed. If you step back and take a larger view of the situation, you'll see there is value in what they're doing.

As for jeopardizing the lives of troops, in the case of this Journalist, that certainly wasn't the case, there are no (admitted) US combat troops in Libya. Journalists can do things like report on the horrors of war or the valiant behavior too...
