Wow, that statement alone says all I need to know.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

^^ this, along with "agent-smiths" comment. If 85% (hell even 50%) of cops were running around acting like this is the wild west, we'd have much bigger problems than the issues we've seen.

Yeah, I normally try not to post on these "cop bashing" threads, as the anti's just raise my blood pressure, but I couldn't leave 85% alone.

I know that a few good LEO's are out there. I can tell you this, a good LEO is not one that basically does his job right and fails to report the f*#@ed up LEO's. I've seen it and I've heard it a thousand times. There are LEO's out there that would never do what the others do but they won't stand up to or report the others because of thier fu*!ing code. They are just as bad. This country needs an enema and it's coming soon.
What is this 'code' you all always want to spout? Do you really think if we witness a cop doing something illegal we won't say anything? We want the bad cops gone as much as anyone. So yes, the vast majority of us are being painted with a broad paintbrush by you.

Anyways my statement of all cops being slightly or fully indoctrinated was a bit over the top and I apologize. I have seen very good cops and I have seen very bad ones. I was pulled over last week for speeding and we were both pleasant and respectful and I left with a warning.

I would say about 1/4 of all my cop encounters involved a cop with a piss poor attitude and a feeling of entitlement and elitism. Thats not a good record.

I have had an officer pull me over because HE SAID I LOOKED "SUSPICIOUS" and then searched me and my car after I informed him he does NOT HAVE my consent. His back up officer said, "YOUR GOING TO SIT THERE WHILE HE SEARCHES YOUR CAR AND YOUR GOING TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!!!"

I have also had an officer pull me over for no front license plate and then tried to search my car and then stopped when I informed he did not have my consent.

Both were asses but only one obeyed the law. And all of my negative encounters were in Chicago suburbs. I have never had a bad cop in the 4 years I've been out here so maybe its different???

Like I said in my first post. I understand a need for law enforcement but I am seeing more abuse and indoctrination. Here's an example:

My coworker recently completed the police academy and we were BSing about guns. I told him that I eventually want to get some sort of 50BMG. His reply was , " What do you need that for?" My response was "Because I want it!"

About a week later I was talking to my boss about what my coworker had said and he says, " Well thats kinda funny. I was talking to my brother, who is the captain of the city PD, and I was telling him about my new AR-10 I just bought" His reply was, "What do you need that for?"

What I'm seeing is a "We can have them, but YOU CAN'T!" mentality.

All I can say is preach the ideals of individual liberties of mankind to other officers and maybe we can make a difference.

Remember that the police are granted their just powers by the consent of the citizens.
Yes, Bryan, on two different occasions, you've helped me with two of my builds. Surprise! You are guilty of aiding a cop! The horror.

I can't argue your experiences in Chicago. It is Chicago. I can argue experiences here, as there is regional differences in law enforcement, differences in minimum hiring standards, state standards and the like. We have statutes and case law to follow. We get updated and continuous training on all them.

Your two examples of the big guns and your belief in some elitist, "I can have them and you can't mentality" is your bias. If you were discussing the same gun with me, I would probably say the same thing. It isn't coming from an elite position of what I can have and what you can't, because that isn't true. It is coming from a practical position of, why would you spend that kind of money on a gun, where the cost per round is between $3.50-$5.00, you have limited areas to shoot it, given the distance the round can travel and other than being an end-of-the-world, zombie distance killer, would you have any use for it other than being a safe queen? You ain't going huntin' Bambi with it. Maybe if we have a rogue elephant running around Windsor, it would be useful. You want it just because you want it? Knock yourself out.

I have four AR's in different configurations and other than the one I carry with me at work, the other three serve no practical purpose than to take space in the safe and on occasion, be taken to the range and shot.

Someone asking the question of why you need something like that can easily be coming from someone who doesn't have the same desire or need for that kind of toy. If the topic was a Hummer H1, jacked to the max with double wide super swampers and the question was asked of why you would want or need something like that, is that elitism, or someone asking the practical purpose of such a toy?

Frankly, I don't know many law enforcement agencies with a .50 BMG or even a .308 for that matter. There might be a .308 on a SWAT or ERT team, but they aren't just lying around for the average joe officer to pick up and put in his trunk. No justification for them.

OMG!!!! I helped a cop!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!

Well if I helped you then I must not dislike you..

And regardless of what you may think about me I don't "hate" cops. I actually would help them out if needed. One of my gun safes was previously owned by a Captain of the Fort collins PD. He gave it to me for helping him move to Windsor.

Oh by the way. Why do you need 4 ARs???

Peace Offices have become Law Enforcement. They refer to Citizens as civilians, when in fact they themselves are also civilians. The Police have become militarized in attitude, equipment and appearance.
Look to Katrina for the general attitude that the State knows best and will will enforce the nanny state. Police knowing violated the Bill of Rights in the name of a "State of Emergency".
I see some are waking up, such as those who have joined Oath Keepers.
So to let you know I have 10 years police and 10 years military duty under my belt and have seen both sides.
I say to the Police remember the Constitution protects both sides.

Enough. Unlike some other threads this started out NOT as a first person account. If all we are going to do is go find news stories about injustice and post them here to do nothing more than stir the pot then it needs to end.

We have many members (as well as staff) that are Leo's. The news rarely puts up stories about the good things because it does not sell. Not everyone in every profession is perfect or an upstanding citizen. Crime and bad people come from all walks of life.

I had hoped that this might have died down or ended on it's own accord. Just the title alone was sure to cause issues. The boss may decide to open this but it is my call that this "cop bashing" thread end.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.
