    Default firearms ownership records

it has been a while since i have done it, but every now and then i do an inventory of what i own. i write a description of each gun and record the serial #. a photo is also a great thing to have.
if and when your guns get taken, or maybe there is a house fire, you have documentation for your insurance company and a serial # to give the cops if it is stolen. without a serial # to report as stolen, it is just another gun floating around. i had 4 guns stolen out of my house about 20 years ago, they broke in and took 3 rifle and a handgun. i had all the serial #'s recorded and when a rifle very similar to mine showed up at a gunsmiths shop i was able to PROVE that it was mine. eventually the guy got caught and was sentenced to 4 years for the crime.

i have multiple photos of my guns, and all of the serial numbers, accesories, condition etc. posted on this program and in several other places. of course my insurance company has the serial numbers as well.

everyone should take the time to record some basic information about each firearm. even if you have a small collection and not a large one.

At the very least I keep a couple of pics of each gun and rename the pic with the ser# I then burn a couple of disks. I send one to the parents. so I have a copy on the computer, a disk put away somewhere else and one at the parents.

I do need to update it again and I think I will send a copy to my email as well. I also note the extra ser #'s since those of us that build Fal's, AK's and other guns have more than one # to deal with.

I keep a couple of flash drives loaded with all important info including firearms inventory. One stays in my BOB.

I have two lists, I keep one with my papers, and I keep a list of make, model, caliber, and serial number in my wallet as well.
