    Default Cowboy Style Revolver

So I kinda want to get in to cowboy style pistols, and hoping some of you would have some recommendations for a good starter. Caliber isn't of huge importance, and I think I would prefer a lower caliber. My girlfriend really wants one, so I think this is one more way for me to get her shooting, so I should take advantage of that :-)

I really don't know anything about em, so let me have it. From a little Googling, I've looked at some Vaqueros and Bearcats, but that's about it.

Go with a Ruger, Vaquero for a more authentic SAA or a Blackhawk for more modern sights. They are both in the $500-$600 range new, and cover the caliber spectrum. They have varying barrel lengths too, from 4 5/8" up to as long as your arm.
    My Blackhawk is a 4 5/8" in .44 Mag.

I prefer Ruger Blackhawks because of the adjustable sights. I can dial the sights in for super low power loads for cowboy action or dial them up for full power backpacking loads

I like the Blackhawks too, even though the lines aren't as traditional.

They sell a conversion that comes with a .38 special / .357 mag cylinder and a 9mm cylinder...

The Blackhawk frame is strong enough that most reloading manuals have a separate section for "Ruger Only" loads. Easy to get into .44 mag range with my .45 Colt and do it at lower pressures... or shoot cowboy loads, standard pressure... it's addictive.

I have several Rugers and this convertible. Great gun, low recoil if any and is very fun to shoot!

The convertible is a great choice, 3 defferent loads to choose from. Great gun for your girlfriend to shoot.
