Not necessarily true. Yes, they are more expensive, but I haven't found the USP nor the P226 more reliable, more accurate, nor would I consider either better in comparison to the XD, Glock, or many other mass produced pistols. What matters is the way they feel to the shooter and how well the shooter can shoot it.
I'll be the first to attest that there is a quantitative price range/quality range difference in firearms. Hell, I have a thread on there somewhere talking about this issue. But, for the most part, the price difference you are talking about here are pistols all within the same category IMO. You are going to want to check out the S&W M&P too based on your selected pistols. Best place for this type of comparison is a range that rents these pistols so you can shoot them. The Sigs feel great with I hold them, but I really dislike how it feels when I shoot it.
