    Default Ordered a Mini MAV

    Ordered a mini-MAV as a competition rig.

Did I do good? Does anyone have any experience with it? Any advice in general on rig setup? Since I'm a civilian competitor I'd feel kinda toolish rolling around in an LBV, so I went for something smaller and more likely to stay out of the way.

Anything you can tell me regarding this subject would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Face it...

There's civilian and military, cops ARE civilians.

Whatever works for you, is what you should run with - don't worry that you might look overly dressed. Everybody is different, some things are universal - like having spare mags, HOW you carry them varies with the user and their training regime.

You find, for instance, that you'll want full coverage eye protection, dust SUCKS and so does wind. You'll probably also go, if you haven't already, with electronic muffs. That nylon is not the best option for a holster, etc.

I've seen guys work an IWB and shove spare mags in their pockets and do well - it's all about the operator, NOT the equipment. make your rig work for you, discard what doesn't work, add on what does. It takes a long while.

Most of us have something I like to call, "the box". In it is every holster and gadget known to humankind, all of which didn't work for us - but we couldn't just trash the stuff because we spent way too much on it.

So, my best answer is - if you can make the rig do what you want without problems - then it's the best rig for you.
